Sport and Exercise Medicine involves the accurate diagnosis and treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. It includes the management of medical conditions relevant to the exercising person and also prescription for general fitness and injury rehabilitation.
Sports medicine is not just about the elite athlete. The principles of injury management are similar for all patients, whether they are elite or recreational athletes. As a Sports Physician, it is Paul’s goal to provide each patient with an accurate diagnosis that will allow the required treatment to get that person back to their normal activities as soon as possible.
Paul has been a specialist in Sport and Exercise medicine since the year 2000. Paul has been the team physician to the Cronulla Sharks for the last 2 years and has been enjoying working again with elite sport and the NRL.
He has been involved in the care of both elite and recreational athletes in the Southern area of Sydney since 1999. He was the Team Physician for the St Illawarra Dragons in the 2010 premiership win and has been the Australian Kangaroos Team Physician. He has a clinical interest in overuse injuries of the lower leg, including chronic exertional compartment syndrome, and also shoulder and foot and ankle conditions. More recently he has developed an interest in PRPP injections for tendonopathy and osteoarthritis.
Paul would be happy to advise you on the most appropriate course of treatment for your sports medicine concern.
